We recommend to analyse the innovation WINGSAILS – patented by OceanWings SAS (Paris) – for your ship newbuilding projects.
Our common goal: reduction of emissions and saving of energy required for ship propulsion.
Details see: OCEANWINGS
Our preliminary analysis concludes that the combination of both, OceanWings and AFT OPT, will lead to excellent fuel savings beyond expectation. Each technology – OceanWings and AFT OPT – delivers excellent results. The combined performance maximises fuel savings. Both technologies derive from aerodynamics; common naval architects are not taught in this discipline. However, these innovations from “beyond the horizon” deliver results that contribute to savings of emissions, OPEX and maintains the asset “ship” with low additional investment cost.
Most important:
Future EEDI/CII requirements of 2030 and beyond can be reached already today with application of AFT OPT only (!) and in combination with OceanWings OPEX will be reduced further just due to the clever synergies of both ship design technologies.
GILLS, Singapore
- Gas Injected Liquid Lubrication System
- energy savings due to 2-phase flow underneath of ship’s hull
- QUOTE
“The Gills Unit of the GILLS System is a device for Ultra Fine Microbubble generation. Different to conventional ways of microbubble generation, the GILLS System reduces frictional resistance, thereby reducing power requirements by up to 15%.GILLS achieves the reduction of drag by generating Ultra-Fine Microbubble (peak diameter 1.0mm) by applying the physical phenomena Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability (KHI).
The Microbubbles are released as soon as generated. The Microbubbles stay in the water a long time and form a cloud with hull-tightening force on it.
Any ship that goes through the cloud, the hull drag is being reduced by hull-tightening Microbubbles”
